Who are Coastal Water Protectors:

Coastal Water Protectors (CWP) brings together individuals who share a profound concern for the well-being of our coastal areas. We are a collective of residents of British Columbia and members of the BC Métis Federation, united by our shared goal of preserving and conserving our coastlines for future generations. Through our collective actions, we strive to create a sustainable and thriving environment along our shores.


CWP Mission:

Our mission is clear: to protect the coastlines of British Columbia through proactive conservation and preservation initiatives. We are dedicated to raising awareness about the significance of safeguarding these delicate ecosystems, promoting responsible practices, and engaging in proactive measures to mitigate potential threats. Through education, community involvement, and advocacy, we work tirelessly to secure a sustainable future for our coastlines and the rich marine life they support.

Who Can Become a Coastal Water Protector:

Coastal Water Protectors warmly welcome individuals currently residing in British Columbia who share a passion for protecting our coastal areas. Membership opportunities are available for various age groups:

Become a Coastal Pups (Ages 5-11):

Our youngest members, Coastal Pups, have the unique opportunity to participate in engaging educational activities, workshops, and events specifically designed to instill a deep love for the environment and promote responsible behavior.


Coastal Sea Wolves (Ages 12-17):

Coastal Seawolf members embark on an exciting journey, engaging in hands-on conservation projects, gaining practical skills, and developing leadership qualities as stewards of our coastlines.


Ambassadors (+ 18):

Ambassadors form the backbone of our community, bringing their valuable experience, dedication, and passion to the forefront. As Ambassadors, members participate in advanced courses, workshops, and initiatives aimed at professional development and environmental leadership.

1. Compensation for Your Contribution: In the near future, the department will be providing exciting contract-based opportunities for you to contribute to coastal conservation and protection. To be eligible for these positions, having an active BCMF membership card may be required.

2. Course and Training Opportunities: Coastal Water Protectors have the privilege of participating in specialized courses and training sessions focused on environmental conservation, spill response and management, aquatic conservation, and safety protocols. These valuable learning opportunities are provided either free of charge or at a substantial discount, ensuring members have access to essential knowledge and skill-building resources.

3. Reviving Initiatives: Our community is committed to giving back. Coastal Water Protectors actively participate in various initiatives aimed at reviving and restoring our coastal areas. This may involve engaging in beach cleanups, contributing to habitat restoration projects, and supporting other environmental conservation activities.
