Trip • Tofino, BC

Métis youth and elders came together in Tofino for a transformative retreat, forging deep connections through storytelling, shared experiences, and breathtaking excursions.

Event Recap:

The Generations of Wisdom Retreat was a life-changing experience that united Métis youth and elders in the stunning landscapes of Tofino. Over four days and three nights, participants engaged in meaningful conversations, cultural exchanges, and immersive outdoor adventures.

The retreat’s heart lay in the nightly gatherings over home-cooked meals, where laughter and storytelling deepened intergenerational bonds. Mornings were spent reflecting, creating, and learning through guided activities such as nature hikes, art sessions, and one-on-one elder-youth interview sessions.

Afternoons brought thrilling experiences, including a winter wilderness boat excursion, where participants witnessed sea lions, otters, and soaring eagles while navigating Tofino’s rugged inlets. A breathtaking helicopter tour to Paradise Lake provided a rare opportunity to witness the region’s vast beauty from above, experiencing ever-changing weather from golden sunshine to snowfall in a single flight.

To commemorate this incredible experience, a digital booklet has been created, featuring participant bios, personal reflections, and highlights from the retreat. This booklet offers a deeper look into the stories, connections, and lessons shared throughout the journey.
