Event Recap:

On a beautiful day at Kitsilano Beach, the Conservation Department of BC Métis Federation hosted a highly successful beach cleanup event. With over 140 registered volunteers, the community spirit was palpable as people from all walks of life came together to help maintain the pristine condition of one of Vancouver's most beloved beaches. Families, students, local business owners, and environmental enthusiasts were all united by a common goal – to care for and preserve our coastal environment.

To show appreciation for the volunteers' efforts, each participant received a gift card from The Boathouse Restaurant in Kitsilano, redeemable for one free appetizer. This generous incentive added a touch of excitement and gratitude to the event. Additionally, volunteers enjoyed a special discount at Kits Beach Coffee, which provided a refreshing break and supported local businesses that share our commitment to environmental stewardship.

The cleanup event was a tremendous success, with volunteers collecting a significant amount of litter and recyclable materials from the beach. Items ranging from plastic bottles and food wrappers to cigarette butts and microplastics were meticulously gathered and properly disposed of. This collective effort ensured that the beach remains a clean and safe environment for both wildlife and visitors, demonstrating the power of community action in tackling environmental issues.
